Lollipop presents DJ Miss Yellow (HK) @ Mist Club

Hell of a night! Not to mention a full house of sexy chicas fighting (well, almost) for a spot on the podium, grinding their sexy curves to none other than DJ Miss Yellow’s groovy set for the night. DJ Yellow who? Here’s some sexy info about her that you should know!

Already an A-list celebrity in her native Hong Kong since the late 90s, Wong Yat Tung aka DJ Miss Yellow is not only a renowned actress, model and TV personality but also HKs premier female DJ. Being in love with music since she was a toddler, she entered every singing competition as a teenager. At 18 she started modeling after being discovered by a modeling scout. She entered the Miss Hong Kong Beauty Pageant shortly thereafter, thus started her career as an actress in TVB, Hong Kong’s major television network. In her 9 years with TVB, she has been in countless movies, TV series, music shows, travelogues and variety programs that have been broadcast all over Asia.

In the past few years, her love and passion for music continued to grow. Being a longtime fan and collector of electro, breakbeats, house, hip hop and R&B, she decided to invest in DJ equipment and learned how to mix and blend her favorite music, with a little help from her mentor, HK’s own DJ Ryan Li. In her first year of DJing, she was already being booked in various high profile clubs all over Hong Kong. Pretty cool eh? Now whoever thinks a female DJ can’t go places, think again.

Needless to say, Mist was jam-packed full of party people for DJ Miss Yellow, and dare I say, everyone seemed to be struggling hard to move their dancing feet, because as mentioned, the club was jam-packed! Shoulders were literally rubbed against each other, in a way it was kind of a frustrating sight to see because some just gave up dancing and stayed put for the rest of the night. Nonetheless, DJ Miss Yellow was full of energy and her amazing aura on the decks really put smiles to everyone’s faces. And of course, her mixing skills and charisma on stage  truly shone as she managed to make the crowd go wild with her well picked, albeit commercial, music selection. Worthy tracks of the night were her own remixed versions of Kesha’ Tik Tok and Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, which made the crowd go insane with sing-alongs. And she dropped Teriyaki Boyz’s Tokyo Drift too, surprisingly delightful as it was one of THE tracks back in the old days.

Last words: gotta love DJ Miss Yellow yo! She’s really gorgeous in person too, especially her striking sense of style, and that spiky, flashy yellow hair of hers. She truly rocked Mist and here’s hoping for her return soon! And not forgetting big-ups to both DJs Monkey and Funkzu for their great set warming up for the night as well.

Got Milk?

Before this goes unmentioned, applauds are mos def in order for such good-looking effort presented in the invitation to the grand launch of Milk. The “crate” is freshly packed in red and comes complete with ‘Nutrition Facts’, which in fact is what the club promises to provide – Popsicles (100% pop) on Wednesdays, Caramel Dub (House/Electro) on Thursdays and Vanilla Vice (all genres!) on Fridays and Saturdays – one just couldn’t help going ‘WOW nice!’ when receiving it. Not only that, the invitation has a pull-out to which a DVD is attached, containing a “sample serving of MILK, prepared by its resident DVJs, A-ROX”, very refreshingly well done.

Now let’s get back to the main story that is the grand launch of Milk, a sister club of Mist’s; they’re both under the same management and are neighbouring clubs. Claiming to be an epitome of chic dynamism, Milk aims to be the new heart of urban nightlife. As seen from the alluring interior design, the futuristic audio and visually stunning DVJ console, the gorgeous dance floor, premium liquors served and the sensational array of musicians, DJs & entertainers promised, Milk is constructed with the swanky and the glamorous in mind. With a dedicated emphasis on providing a breathtaking and cutting-edge party ambience, Milk strives to offer a deluxe yet exuberant escapade for nightlife enthusiasts. This is where glam, fun and music zest are fused together; just one step into the club instantly transports you to a covered world of sexy vivacity. Milk is refreshingly hot!

When it comes to creating mind-blowing party ambience, the club strategically combines aesthetic appeal with awe-inspiring technology. Latest state-of-the-art sound system, DVJ console, several big LCS screens and glitzy lightings are tastefully put together to enhance partying experience by a mile. Boy was the crowd impressed! Tag team resident DJs Alex and Ray Rox were spinning commercial R&B that is a surefire way to please the crowd throughout the night, alongside with trippy music videos, nothing could go really wrong there, don’t you think?

Those who were present for the night was certainly satisfied, thumbs up to its great service, as well as what seemed to be an endless free flow of drinks while it lasted. Last but not least, let’s just say the night would have been a stale one without the happy, beautiful crowd; they got milk, how about you?

Speedzone Tour 2010 – Official Grand Prix Party

Known for throwing some of the best parties in the nation, Speedzone Tour 2010, the Official Grand Prix Party was back with a vengeance – bigger and louder than ever – this time around has rocked outdoor at Marching Grounds (Padang Kawat) at Genting Highlands on Saturday, 3rd April 2010. Easily “party of the year”, those present were not disappointed at all as the expected heart-thumping action from some of the biggest names in the dance music arena did not fail to present a great mish-mash of trance and techno beats, droning out all other sounds as the lights went down, inevitably setting the perfect mood for a party scene that was a definite astonishing sight to behold.

A grand total of 7,000 revelers – that’s another successful sold-out by Speedzone! – turned up at the venue in spite of how freezing cold the weather was at Genting Highlands, with quite a big number of people lining up at the ticket counter as early as 3pm, in order to get hold of their passes to the party. The pre-sale tickets were apparently sold out even before the event day and door-sale tickets were limited, hence sadly, those who missed out were left stranded outside the venue, with most of them decided to hang around anyways, enjoying the cold weather as well as the great music coming out from the venue, no matter how vaguely it was nonetheless.

Warming up for the night was none other than Droolotte Tasha, a sexy, young lass whom at 26-years-old, has made Malaysia proud by being crowned the winner of the Ibiza Bedroom DJ Awards. A classically-trained pianist, she likes being in control of music and has quickly discovered her passion in the music of trance artists, specifically the likes of Paul van Dyk and Ferry Corsten. Her smooth and sexy tunes blended well with the music mixture of the night alongside local hero, Terrence C’s sophisticated remixes. For those who do not know Terrence C, he is a well-known name in the local dance music scene and is currently the resident DJ at Zouk KL.

Another unforgettable performer of the night was Jody Wisternoff, one half of Way Out West (a UK progressive house, trance and progressive breaks group from Bristol, England) whose influence and contribution to the dance music scene cannot be overstated. Bringing a solid mix of progressive house acts and solo nu disco offerings to the dance floor, Jody inescapably began the night as how the crowd responded positively to his endearing set. Many would agree that the highlight of his set was when he dropped a remixed version of The XX’s Crystallized, which was a delightful moment that brought smiles on those who love the song.

The highly-anticipated German duo Kyau & Albert, one of the most original DJs/producers in the modern day electronic dance music circuit, took over the decks and amazed the happy crowd with their massive, cutting-edge set for the night. Enthusiastic and energetic, they certainly knew how to work the crowd and brought nothing but chaos for the night! Crowd went insane when their own remixed versions of Bent’s As You Fall and Oasis’ Wonderwall were dropped, bringing the party to greater heights as everyone started singing along.

Next up was the world-renowned superstar DJ Paul Oakenfold, spinning some of his world-class innovative music, satisfying the thirst for great music to his screaming fans hovering by the fence in front of the massive stage of Speedzone. Back by popular demand after his first Speedzone gig last year, Paul returned this time with a set so powerful, it topped his set for last year’s, leaving revelers asking for more.

Personally, the best set of the night was by Ronski Speed, who delivered a truly soulful yet commanding of a set. Ronski was seen enjoying himself spinning away for the cheerful crowd, and indeed they were charmed by how he knowingly dropped heaven-sent tracks such as Oceanlab’s Satellite and Nitrous Oxide’s Far Away, both his own remixes, sending definite chills to a whole room of revelers. Such a talented DJ he was, he playfully closed his set with hints of the commercially-played MGMT’s Kids, and bam! The party ended. Very clever of him, if you know get my drift here.

Big-ups to all who’ve made Speedzone Tour 2010 such a memorable night! If anything, the party has not only successfully brought joyous fun of great music to all; it has also positively restored our faith for the much-loved electronic dance music scene of today.
